Comparison Between Glued and Glue-Free Glass Fiber Extraction Thimble
HAWACH extraction thimbles can be divided into cellulose and glass fiber extraction thimbles based on their materials. Today we mainly talk about the glass fiber extraction thimble, an extraction filter cartridge made of pure micro glass fiber without binder, with good filtration performance, very low metal content, and super stability of quality and size, especially for high temperature (500°C) and high purity glass fiber requirements. It can also be used to analyze acid gases (except HF).
Features of glass fiber extraction thimbles
Made of high-purity borosilicate glass fibers, are completely free of binders or Hawach glass fiber extraction thimbles additives. They are flexibly designed for a full range of available Soxhlet apparatus systems. With walls as thin as 1–1.5 mm, Hawach glass fiber thimbles can resist temperatures up to 500°C. They are not only perfect for the analysis of hot and acidic gases, including emission control and smoke stack gas monitoring, but also for the analysis of pesticide residues. They can be used to determine the oil/fat content of foods and analyze oil and grease in solid wastes.
HAWACH glass fiber extraction thimbles can be used to filter dust particles, air-suspended particles, or turbulence, due to its high-temperature resistance and excellent chemical compatibility. It can be used for the separation of condensed water, oil, compressed air, gas, exhaust gas, and analytical technology.
It is especially suitable for extracting organic compounds from reaction mixtures and natural food substances, analyzing pigments, paints, and adhesives, and measuring and analyzing particulate matter and tar in gases. When used for sample pretreatment of dioxins, PAH, pesticide residues, heavy metals, etc., it is suitable for samplers, Soxhlet extractors, and automatic extractors.
Comparison between glued and glue-free glass fiber extraction thimble
Glued glass fiber extraction thimble: The alkali-free glass fiber is beaten to break into short fibers of a certain length. Add water to a certain concentration to adjust the slurry, and add a certain proportion of cement to stir. The beating continues until the glass fibers are unraveled until they are dispersed to a satisfactory suspension. The suction filter is placed in the glass fiber solution.
Due to suction filtration and dehydration, the glass fibers in the solution are evenly adsorbed on the surface of the copper wire mesh of the suction filter to form a wet extraction thimble. Remove the wet extraction thimble, put it on the female mold, squeeze, heat, and shape. After taking it out, continue to dry in the oven to become a finished product.
Glue-free glass fiber extraction thimble: on the basis of the production of the glue extraction thimble, the production process and formula are successfully trial-produced.The glueless extraction thimble can guarantee the strength required by the sampling process, has the basic characteristics of a glued extraction thimble, and can be used for dust sampling of flue gas at 200-500°C. While Hawach glass fiber extraction thimbles’ max temperature is 600°C. The weight loss is only 1/10 of that of the rubber extraction thimble which greatly improves the performance.
