Extraction Thimble Used in Air Filtration

Extraction thimbles are often used to dissolve the desired compound in the multiple extraction cycles in the lab. In the form of a short and thick test tube, extraction thimbles are often made of pure cellulose, with high-quality alpha cellulose cotton linter. You can also find extraction thimbles made of glass fibers without binders when you need to get a more corrosive solvent.

Hawach offers extraction thimbles in high purity of cellulose for Soxhlet extractions and glass fiber extraction thimbles for the analysis of environmental pollution. Made from high purity materials, and with consistent physical properties, Hawach extraction thimbles are available in a wide range of sizes and fit into most automatic extraction systems.

When solvent extraction of solids and semi-solids needs to be carried out, Hawach cellulose extraction thimbles are perfect sample reservoirs for quality control, research, and analytical applications. Hawach glass fiber thimbles are good tools for aerosol droplet separations and condensate from gases for applications in the lab as well.

Extraction Thimble Used In Air Filtration

With the continuous improvement of people’s requirements on their living standards and the specific demands for the experimental environment, certain relevant lab tools are of great importance to help us to achieve the goal. The extraction thimble, in particular, is what will be discussed below as one of the necessary lab tools in the air filtration process.

Features

The extraction thimbles used for air filtration are typically divided into two types based on the materials it consists, such as cellulose, polyester long-fiber, and glass fiber. It generally adopts advanced international-standard technology to ensure an even distribution of the pores.

In particular, it possesses superior resistance to strong acid and corrosive solvents with strong non-sticking performance. It also provides a large filtration area with a high filtration precision yet low friction coefficient. It has a uniform filtration area and large processing air volume, which is more easy for using the electromagnetic pulse valve to repeatedly clean the smoke or dust contained.

Application

The extraction thimble for air filtration can not only be used for the haze collection analytical experiments but also the detection and removal of industrial dust in mechanical and chemical fields, such as metallurgical foundry, air compression industry, etc.

Two major uses of extraction thimble

1.Soxhlet extraction

One way to extract a compound from a solid substance is to infiltrate the solid with a solvent for a long period of time to leach the desired substance, that is, a long-term leaching method. It takes a long time with low efficiency. Soxhlet extractor, also known as the fat extractor is frequently used in the lab, which is composed of three parts: the extraction bottle, the extraction tube, and the condenser.

It utilizes solvent reflux and siphoning principles to continuously extract solid materials from pure solvents, which saves solvent and improve extraction efficiency. The filter cartridge is mainly used to place the substance to be extracted in a container of the glass below, and then the solution is repeatedly soaked to extract the desired components from the material.

2.Haze and fog collection

Another important function of the filter cartridge is to collect particles such as haze and fog in the atmosphere. It is used in conjunction with a smog collection device.
